What Causes Severe Headache And Hot Flashes?

I have had a headache for more than 24 hours and I am also experiencing what I can best describe as hot flashes. Heat overcomes me and I become flushed. I have taken over the counter pain medicines and sinus medicines. Do you think a muscle relaxant would help. The light on this lap top disturbs me. Any suggestions appreciated..

Hello,

I read your message and understood your problem.

Before I say my opinion, I need to know if you have ever had that headache before or it is just the first time you experience it in the recent 24 hours? Can you describe your headache to me?

Do you have other health troubles? Any medication or drugs you may take? Lifestyle?

I do not think that a muscle relaxant will help in your case. Instead try muscle relaxing exercising like yoga and meditation and do this often to prevent new migraine attacks.

Knowing the information you gave me I think you have experienced an attack of migraine. People that suffer from migraine sometime feel a more severe headache than usual, have light sensitivity and other symptoms. Hot flashes are usual too.

For relieving the migraine pain you can use special medication which is a combination of painkillers caffeine, aspirin and acetaminophen in one tablet. it is called Excedrin Migraine. This is one of these drugs but in your country maybe there are other options too.

Avoid triggers of migraine attack like stress, alcohol, aged cheese and salty foods, some medications, bright light etc. Do lifestyle changes that will help you prevent migraine attack and maintain a good general health too.

If the headache last more than 48-72 hours or if the headache becomes more severe go see a doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
