What Causes Severe Headache And Bulging Vein On Left Side Of The Temple?

My wife woke up with a stabbing headache on the left side and her temple area was very painful to touch. She looked in the mirror and noticed this bulging vein. She had started an upper respiratory flu symptoms two days earlier. What could this be? Should we worry? Should I take her in to be seen?

HI
Well come to HCM
Appreciate your concern
Such headache could be nonspecific, nothing to take anything with the flu at least not the headache that is being described here
Advise:
Just wait for some time because condition may be self limiting
Blood pressure need to be measured, Blood sugar level also need to be get done
Treatment:
Ask her to keep the stress level low, have bed rest
Medication:
Initially headache can be managed with Tab Aspirin 300 mg
This is nothing to worry, take care.
