What Causes Severe Fatigue While On Blood Pressure Medication?

64 year male..heart attack 11 years ago..Stent in one artery. Two other blocked..not repaired. Extremely fatigued every day. Won t take any meds except blood pressure..and won t go to a doctor. Was told perif.artery disease 50% same time as attack. Also has the appearance of redness in the face..and hotness to skin..but no fever. Has this everyday. My husband..don t know how to help..but emphatically will not go to the doctor. Also..sleeps all weekend..and does not help.

Hello,

Fatigue can be due to peripheral vasodilation with antihypertensive medications. As such brain and vital organs get less blood and nutrient supply like a brain.

Another thing some antihypertensive medications contains drugs like alprazolam, diazepam which can also depress body activity causing lethargy and fatigue.

The third is the slow activity of the heart can decrease blood flow to organs leading to nutrient deficiency particularly glucose. I feel you should see a nearby cardiologist for the general examination.

You may need dosage alteration or other tests to find the healthy status of your heart.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
