What Causes Severe Cough Leading To Convulsions And Redness?
My husband has had cough for almost a year on and off. Today, he was given a skin test for TB and get the results on Thurs. He coughed so hard now that he turned so red and was like convulsing. I think he balcked out for a few seconds cause he can't remember what happened. Should we go to the emeregency room?
If he is feeling better at the moment then he can wait and see his doctor in the am.
There are different causes for a chronic cough which is a cough that lasts for more than 8 weeks.
The most common causes are: (1) post nasal drip. Some persons may not detect the drip in the back of the throat but experience the coughing. It is the most common reason for chronic cough
(2) gastroesophageal reflux disease- reflux, even in the absence of the typical symptoms can cause reflux
(3)asthma
If the TB test is negative, his doctor may want to consider one of these as a possible cause.
I hope this helps
