What Causes Severe Chest Pain After Taking Fever Medicine?

I have had the flu for the past four days. For the first two i was taking dayquil and advil every four hours and did not eat anything for two days. By the end of the second day i started having a sharp pain in my chest, in which i believe this burned my esophagus and caused major indigestion. The pain is almost unbareable as it hurts to drink liquids and all ive been eating since is a bagel or two a day (broken into tiny pieces). I was given nexium 40 Mg and have been taking mylanta anti gas liquid as well. I stopped taking any flu medicaiton two nights ago. How long before this unbareable pain will go away?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
You are mostly having drug induced gastritis.
Anti inflammatory and anti pyretic drugs are used for fever. And these drugs are known to cause gastritis.
If gastritis is severe than pain on swallowing , burning chest pain, indigestion etc are seen.
So better to avoid fever drugs. Drink plenty of fluids orally. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid junk food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals. You are taking correct medicines for gastritis. So continue nexium and mylanta.
Recovery is expected in 1-2 weeks.
So for 1-2 weeks continue these drugs and above mentioned lifestyle modifications.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
