What Causes Severe Back And Neck Pain After Quitting Cigarette Smoking?
hay my names roy and I m 22 years of age I ve smoked ciggaretes for 10 years and i have only given up smoking 2 days ago.owkae so i have a real serious lower back pain so bad that i struggle to sleep i also get sharp pains on the lower right hand side of my neck by my back.the pains are sharp like somethings eating my brain.also i have sore legs and laying down does not help me.but i can still walk on them.i also feel sick with a cough and l feel like I ve been drained of all my energy.
You need to have X-ray of cervical and lumbar spine to rule out cervical or lumbar spondylosis. A chest X-ray to rule out any space occupying lesion at lungs apex with history of smoking leading to neck nerves compression should be ruled out. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. If pain is severe, nerve pain suppressants like gabapentin can be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
