What Causes Severe Abdominal And Lower Back Pain After A Week Of Miscarriage?
Approx. 1 week after my daughter had a miscarriage (She was approx. 8 weeks pregnant) she began having sever abdominal pain and lower back pain like back labor. She spent 2 days in emergency and the Hospital. They said she had a rupture in her uterus, (Her hormone level was that of being 6 weeks pregnant-but the did an ultra-sound and found nothing. However fluid had begun to fill up in her lower extremities causing the pain and irritation. Will this rupture heal on it s own? They sent her home and told her to take Aleve . She is still in great pain, and very bloated...the pain is also moving above her bellybutton. Will this issue resolve itself with time? I m concerned about infection also
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. From your description, it appears as though the rupture has not sealed and the leak seems to be increasing. This calls for immediate medical attention. The prescribed medication may not be of much help in this situation. A plain X-ray of the abdomen and a sonogram help to clarify the situation and plan further management. Serum beta-hCG titres can remain positive up to 4-6 weeks. Antibiotic prophylaxis may be needed. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
