What Causes Scalp Itchiness And High BP After Taking Amoxycillin?
I am going to try to call my doctor. He prescribed amoxycillan 500 mg. three times a day for seven days. I am on the third day of pills, and in advertantly took the third dose today four hours too soon. I have started itching in my scalp and just took my blood pressure a few minutes ago - it was very high 210 over 90 - perhaps higher. I think I will call a friend to come over and take me to a clinic. YYYY@YYYY This was given to me for a dental problem. The dentist found too much calcium in my tooth. I went back and he drilled some more and was slated to return June 13. My tooth acted up and he prescribed amoxycillin.
The symptoms you are experiencing is likely to be an allergic reaction to amoxicillin. Please discontinue the medication and follow up with the urgent care as your blood pressure is concerningly high. You will need a shot of antihistamine like Benadryl and monitoring of blood pressure in the urgent care. You can take Benadryl orally until the itching subsides. Switching to another class of antibiotics like macrolides is also important.
