What Causes Rise In ALT Levels After Taking Antibiotics And Tylenol?

How long does it take for ALT levels to go down to a normal. I m not a drinker, maybe I ll have a beer or two once a month if that. Was sick a month ago and was on antibiotics and Tylenol, two days later had a check up done and ALT came back at 70, the doctor said we should retest in two weeks. Went back three weeks later. Doctor said levels are normalizing but said we should do a sonogram. Just wondering if I should be concerned. I m 42 years old, healthy, fit, workout at least three times a week. Cardiovascularly I healthier than most 20 years olds, I also do a boxing workout a couple of times a week and also spar.

ALT level of 70 is not a significant rise , you can ignore it. there are some antibiotics they are hepatotoxic , you have not mentioned what antibiotics used . anyway your doctor told that it is normalising . you are advised to get done sonogram , it is good to get it done to see the status of liver and other organs in the abdomen . hepatitis can be checked with sonogram , so I can suggest you for sonogram and don't worry about that ALT levels
