Hi, Binge drinking and hyper tryglyceridemia are the risk factors of pancreatitis. Though pain of pancreatitis is usually occur in epigastric region (central part of upper abdomen) but some time pain may occur in any other part of abdomen. Other possible cause of right sided abdominal pain is diabetic ketoacidosis though rarely occur in type 2 diabetes but alcohol may precipitate the episode. You should consult your doctor for clinical examination and further evaluation. Serum level of pancreatic enzymes lipase, amylase, ultrasound of abdomen, CT scan of abdomen, urine and serum level of ketone and blood sugar level and other basic lab tests may be helpful in establishing diagnosis.
