Questions and answers on "Binge drinking"

hey my names ryan and i have a question about how i act after binge drinking . Im 17, about 70 kilos, i do have a fair bit of experience with drinking, but on rare occasions (its happened 3 times now) when i drink alot of spirits (mainly vodka ) i blank out and have no memory of what i do but im still very active (as in i dont pass out or become drowsy) and i get extremely aggresive ever at my good friends and girlfriend, cause arguments out of nowhere with random people (even people who could very easily hurt me etc). Aswell as getting agressive i have mood swings to become overly emotional, crying etc and no one can control me when i become that way. It doesnt happen everytime i drink, usually im very normal and act in a normal way when im drunk, im friendly, outgoing etc. I have no real past health issues apart from being allergic to peanuts and egg, aswell as migrains which occur every month or so. Is there anything wrong with me? Why does this happen to me?

He hasn t eaten at all the past few days and has repeatedly puked. Help?

doctor1 MD

Hi Summer,

I read your query with diligence. Seems like the alcohol binge has got on the health of your boyfriend. Added to it, he has not eaten at all.

He most probably has these now:

1. Electrolyte imbalance
2. Dehydration
3. Hypothermia due to alcohol consumption

We need to correct his fluid...

Hi , i just came back from a trip a few days ago. I went for a week and i was binge drinking everyday, and almost all day each day. now that i have come back and stopped drinking, i'm experiencing extreme depression and anxiety, i am also experiencing mood swings and extremely bad dreams and insomnia. Some physical symptoms are that i have not been able to eat without feeling nauseous after and i have had headaches as well. Does this have to do with my alcohol intake when i was away?

doctor1 MD

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
These all symptoms are due to withdrawal of alcohol.
Nausea, dizziness anxiety , palpitation, excessive dreaming, restlessness are common features after alcohol withdrawal.
In my opinion consult a psychiatrist and get his opinion.
Alternatively...

Hello. When i consume a lot of alcohol i get numb toes for anywhere up to five days after. I dont usually drink too much, about 15 units a week and dont have a problem with that amount but when i consume a lot of alochol my toes go numb, mainy my big ones. In the last three years i have probably had six big nights out for celebrations and consumed a lot of alcohol, binge drinking if you like, and on all of these occasions i have had the numb toes. What is causing this ?

I was binge drinking for 4 consecutive days almost 6 pg every day. On 4th day I vomit some dark red - brown liquid. I am scared and decided to quit alcohol. I don t drink daily. But once in 3-4 months. Once it is on it lasts for 3-4 days. Can you please guide me if there is anything to worry about with regards to the vomit. I shall be grateful. Regards.

doctor1 MD

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Vomiting of the "reddish brown liquid" indicates bleeding from the upper gastro-intestinal tract. It could be due to stomach ulcers or due to an esophageal tear. Obviously, this is a serious matter of concern.

I would advise you to see a...

Hi Doctor, I am a diabetic on medication , hypertensive on medication and asthamatic. I went on a binge drink two days ago.I am in college and did that for St Pattys day, I had ALOT to drink. Like 10+ shots of vodka and 10+ jagerbombs over the course of 10 hours. I am not getting alot of anxiety and shortness of breath. The main problem is I can t sleep at all and keep getting stupid thoughts. What do I do? Is there any medicine I can take to go to sleep?

doctor1 MD

Hi there ~

Thank you for your question. As for the drinking binge, I would advise you to not have any more of drinking binges anymore. I also think that drinking binges are not good for your overall health and particularly for sleep architecture. Though you may pass out at that moment it is...

Hi, I am a female, aged 35 and had some blood tests done last week as I had mentioned to my doctor that I had discomfort and some soreness in whole tummy area which seem to be related to odd days where I seem to be constipated (since before xmas). As a precaution, they did blood tests and have asked for a retest for liver . The first test was early Friday morning. I was at a wedding on the Saturday before where I had consumed alcohol (binged) but a 5 full days had lapsed before the first test. I drink quite rarely but do drink usually once every 5-6 weeks where I have a bottle of wine and couple of half lagers. Could the binge drinking at the weekend have affected the results? The doctor wants to do the retest in 7 days time after an alcohol free week. Thanks.

doctor1 MD

Hi

Thanks for asking.

Binge drinking can lead to the alteration of the liver function tests and most of the times the enzymes remain elevated for few weeks after the drinking.

Give at least 3-4 weeks of alcohol free period before you decide to do the liver function tests....

I have a question in regards to my recent experience with heart palpatations (increased heart rate ) Im a 31 year old male who is in good shape. However I do drink often (3 nights a week binge drink) About a month ago in the middle of the night I had a small slip going up the stairs. It startled me a little but my heart I felt was really over reacting. My slipping going up my stairs had sent my heart into really big palpatations that lasted all the way to the next day. Since then I have had palpatations happen again but they are not as violent. From that day forward now everytime I drink for a day or two (5 -12 drinks a day) I get a racing heart for 12 to 24 hours. I never had this happent toe me before after drinking, Im going to stop drinking now for a month or so and see if it clears up. Is it possible that the night I slipped I set my heart onto a differnt rythym? And now everytime I drink I will have these palpatations? Im concerned I effected my heart in someway.ada

Hi,binge alcohol drinkers can land up in something called "Holiday heart syndrome" prone for increased heart rate-arrhythmias especially Atrial fibrillation etc or just plain tachycardia. The earlier episode could have been either of these in your case.It can reoccur if you indulge in binge alcohol...

Hi, I had a question that pertains to Erectile Dysfunction. I am 25 and about a month ago I started having problems related to ED. I am and have been a very sexual active person with a very high Libido, but the past month I seem to not be able to have a real hard erection. I can receive an erection sometimes but it is not to its full potential as in the past, my Libido is still there. I am wondering what could I do to help this problem. About a month and a half ago some friends took me out for graduating Grad School and for about two weekend in a row I got really drunk more of a binge type drinking. I have always drank occasionally but never binge drink. Just looking around the internet I see that Alcohol abuse can cause ED. I have sense stayed away from alcohol but the problem is still there. Thank you.
