Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2 year old grandson fell and his nose was bleeding. He cried and did not want us to pinch it or put an ice bag on him. We just used a dampened cold cloth to wipe as needed. It quit bleeding after 15-20 min and he was walking around outside hunting Easter eggs. Today he was fine and has acted normal. Nose was a barely red. Unnoticeable really if you didn t know what had happened. Anyway, he woke up from a nap today and his nose had started bleeding again. It stopped in just a few minutes and he is running around already again. We are feeding him Popsicle since he still will not let us put ice pack on his nose or forehead. The mothers is asking, what if he is bleeding on the brain? ??? Should we be more concerned and take him to be seen. The mother is more scared than the 2 year old.
Hi Thanks for posting yoru query on HCM I have read and understood your concern. If he is playing with no history of loss of consciousness after the fall, then there is no problem in the brain. Nasal blood vessels are superficial and easily bleed when injured.I will advise you try the following: -Ask the child to rest/take a nap -Compress nose if bleeding starts again. -If pain, a pain drug like paracetamol syrup will help. Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns. Best regards
