What Causes Renal Discomfort After Withdrawal Of Lisinopril?

I stopped lisinopril after 20 years of taking it. My renal functions slid down, so I was put on a CCB in place of the ACE inhibitor. I had a 10 pound weight gain in 5 days and felt lethargic. I had some diuretic that I took for 2 days and have since lost 8 of the 10 pounds. I feel better. Is it unreasonable to blame this on lisinopril withdrawal?

Thank you for approaching healthcare magic.I understand your concerns.
lisinopril is a type of anti hypertensive, which act at the level of kidney, and decreases overload on heart by balancing sodium ,potassium, and water levels.
Calcium channel blocker instead acts on heart and decrease the BP.
The type of anti hypertensive depends on the cause.
In case of diabetics most probably the cause will be atherosclerosis, and this will be one one of the important cause in most of the obese people due to high cholesterol levels.
It also decreases the water from the body by filtration of blood and removes the water.
So your symptoms are related to it.
CCB also works for you but it will take time to balance the body to your drug.
Do not worry about this issue, continue the CCB for some days. Then you will become normal.
If you still have same problem after some days. You should get back to the previous drug.
Consult a cardiologist and rule out the cause for BP.

Get blood reports -
COMPLETE BLOOD PICTURE
COMPLETE URINE EXAMINATION
BLOOD UREA
SERUM CREATININE
TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS.
Depending on the reports you can start antihypertensive.

Hope this will help you.
Thank you.
