What Causes Reduced Menstrual Flow?

My daughter is married and are trying for a baby. Her period was late by five days now, but very little flow. A pregenencey test done at home shows negative. She is taking vitamin tablets for the past two months. What could be the reason for the reduced flow?

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Reduced menstrual flow could be due hormonal imbalance, recent illness/weakness, anemia, or some times pregnancy as you suspect, over weight, mental stress, pelvic or vaginal infection.
Pregnancy test will give positive result 8-10 days after the missed period.
I would suggest to go for pregnancy test and or blood HCG again after 3-5 days to confirm the pregnancy.
Reproductive hormone analysis, vaginal examination and swab test will help in management.
Avoid stress, take healthy diet, do regular exercise, drink plenty of water.
Hope this may help you
