I have blood shot eyes in the morning after I wake up with no discharge. The earlier I wake the worse it is. I also soreness behind the eye s (very low headaches type). I sometime also wake up in a head sweat at night. I ve had blood tests and everything is normal. I ve been on antibiotics for a week now and also using tee tree vaporous to ensure no nasal virus is occurring. Still no change. Any ideas

Hello,

Blood shot redness in the eyes most of the times, even though scary, it is not dangerous and does not hurt the eye or the vision.

If this is a repeated thing then you might need some tests and examinations like checking your blood pressure to make sure you don't have high blood pressure, sometimes if you have chronic conjuctivitis due to allergies might cause you to scratch the eyes at night and cause the bleeding under the conjuctiva and have this bright bleeding. In this case trying some oral cetirizine to treat eye allergy is an option especially if you think your eyes itch a lot.

Rarely blood problems with coagulation and bleeding time might be considered and the doctor might ask for tests to rule out problems related to these like CBC, Thrombocytes, coagulation time, bleeding time, etc.

Rarely autoimmune conditions affecting the eyes might be considered as well, the doctor will have to check for other symptoms related to these conditions and have you have the proper tests as needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
