Hello,

Mantoux test is an indicator of a person being exposed to the tubercular germ. It may or may not imply an active infection. However, a Mantoux test positive at 20 mm is quite significant.

Chest Xray shows changes only when a person has pulmonary tuberculosis or tubercular pleural effusion. There are many other types of tuberculosis which occur in lymph nodes, abdomen, brain etc.

Usually a low grade fever and weight loss are present in majority of the TB cases. Uou can consult an infectious disease specialist for further advise.

Some blood tests like complete blood count (including ESR) are needed. A fundoscopic examination of the eye may help in detection of choroid tubercles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ayusmati Thakur
