What Causes Red And Itchy Bumps On The Skin?

Hello Doctor, I have been noticed with red itchy skin bumps from couple of days. I met a nurse practitioner and she prescribed Prednisone 10 Mg . These bumps are getting more worse during night times and disappears as the day passes. Again as the night starts they appear. Can you please help me ? Can I take Cetirizine along with Prednisone ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes you can use cetirizine or any other antihistamines like loratadine, however, using steroids isn't recommended especially orally without getting it reviewed by a dermatologist. Topical steroids alongside microbial cover may be started.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
