What Causes Recurring Tightness And Choking Sensation In Throat?

Hi My Name Is Betty and I've been having problems with my throat lately.
I wake up in the middle of the night choking like i have something in their(my throat)
and I drink water to try to get rid of it and it don't work all that well.
Now I feel a weird feeling in my throat when I breathe in and out and I also get that same feeling
during the day like I do at night with the choking

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query have symptoms of recurring tightness and choking sensation in throat which could be due to granular pharyngitis and it could be due to gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day. You should do betadine gargles as well. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order test like blood test, endoscopy, throat swab test, and CT scan. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course along with anti inflammatory medications and may refer you to gastroenterologist. Take plenty of fluids. You should avoid heavy and spicy food specially at night and eat small and frequent meals.
