What Causes Recurring Redness And Itching In The Area Of Tick Bite?

I was bitten by a tick on 5/23/2015. it has been 3 months now, and every now and then, the site of the bite (my left-side collarbone) will turn red and start itching again, then go away a day or so later, looking more like a scar. I still have the tick frozen in a ziplock bag, and it still has his head attached to his body, so I dont believe I have anything still in there. Any suggestions?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of redness and itchiness at tick bite. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain hygiene of the affected area and take tablet Avil if itching is there and apply a topical antibacterial ointment. Visit dermatologist once if symptoms keep on persisting. Start treatment after complete examination and proper prescription. You should wear loose clothes. You should avoid touching or picking spots. Keep the area little dry.

If symptoms keeps on persiting visit dermatologist once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
