What Causes Recurring Migraines Leading To Nausea And Vomiting?

i have 2-4 migraines a week lasting from 8 hours to 2 days. i havent been to a doctor since i lost medicare when i hit 21(6 years ago) . ive tried 15+ medications, MRI, CT scans ruled out other causes of my headaches with nausea and vomiting. its very rare that i feel okay. ive lost all my jobs due to this disease (11 jobs in the past 10 years). it stops me from attending social activities and even doing stuff around the house ill have to bail out of. i have no insurance and cannot afford a doctor but i need relief...im no doctor but i think i may have anxiety and depression caused from my migraines. ill dread having to tell people im not going to be there because i have a headache, and then ill feel horrible for when i do. ive been to a therapist for stress management when i was like 10 years old...but i feel more stressed in my mid 20s than i ever did at 10 years old. my migraines have only gotten more severe and more frequent. ive tried staying away from caffeine, chocolate, being well hydrated, and eating properly but to no avail...cant hold a job and im looked at as lazy because ill call into work so much i eventually quit because im afraid to call in and tell them i have yet another migraine. i remember the doctors ive seen got very frustrated and referred me to one another when nothing would work, all the triptans, nasle sprays, and i think i was given a shot a couple of times....i guess my question is, if i went to a doctor now without insurance...what would his/her first shot at this be? MRI? drugs?

Hello there. I truly understand how you are feeling. It must be quite a task coping with life when you have such a refractory problem as troubling as migraine. Since most of your tests to rule out other causes have been negative you need not be investigated again in my opinion. What you need is a drug like amitryptylline which can tackle both the low feeling and migraine. You may need flunarizine also in addition for long term prophylaxis. The right doses of meds are important which may take a while to reach. So its imperative you followup with the same doctor. Psychotherapy with be highly valuable in your case. Coping is something most of us have to be reminded about and taught often. Try to stay calm. It will get better. Try some sort of self employment for the time being and maybe after a while you can go for a job with flexible working hours. We all can find our spot right? Stay positive. Stay calm. Wishing you good health. Take care.
