Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Low Grade Fever In A Toddler Post A Hit On Head?
I have a 3 year old that gets a low grade fever every day but is otherwise acting and feeling fine until the fever comes. Thr fevers started a few days ago after hitting his head when colliding with another toddler. He has a knot on his temple still from hitting his head.
Any kind of injury or bump over the head can cause a pain or swelling. This pain or swelling would release a lot of toxins which can cause fever.
However, this fever would subside with time. Most children who get fever would need sponging to help get the fever down. This would help to prevent the child from getting seizures or complications of fever.
Some children may need medications. Seeing a chemist to confirm if Paracetamol syrup can be used can help.
Other things that help with the fever include - Keeping the room well ventilated Drinking and hydrating Wearing loose cotton clothing
Please see a doctor in person in case the fever persists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
