What Causes Recurring Chronic Bronchitis Along With Loss Of Appetite?

does chronic bronchitis every go away. a patient has episodes every month and is bed ridden for 2-3 days with fatigue, loss of appetite and lethargy. Then every three weeks, now ever two weeks. Cold damp weather is worse but this has been going on for 2 years at least.

Hello dear
Understand your concern.
I think you are suffering from chronic bronchitis with infection.

Following are the causes of your problem:
1. Lung disease: asthma, Cystic fibrosis, CHF, Emphysema, broncheactasis
2. Chronic smoking:Both primary and secondary
3.Chronic exposure to irritants: SO2, NH3, Bromide, chorine, grass dust, any type of allergen
4. Gastroesophafeal reflux disease

You should consult the doctor and do the detail testing pulmonary function to exclude the above cause: like Chest Xray, CT scan Chest, Pulmonary function test. CBC, ESR,

Doctor may provide the following treatment:
1. Avoid irritant from the air
2. Avoid cold air exposure
3. Use mask whenever you get exposure to cold
4. Use humidifier
5. Warm water with added salt vaporization 4-5 times a day
6. Bronchodilator tablet /inhalator: Salmetreol, Salbutamol
7. Steroids : Tablet predmet 4 mg
8. Tablet levofloxacin 500 mg for 7 days
9. Syrup mucinex 5 ml three times a day
9. O2 therapy for better relief
10 Pulmonary rehabilitation: Breathing exercise, stop smoking.
