What Causes Recurrent Fever Despite Taking Meftal P?

My daughter is having high fever since yesterday. We gave her meftal-p 4ml around 7pm yesterday after which fever went down. Then after a few hours it again started rising. We did the sponging of body and wet cloth soaked in cold water on head. And it is not going down. After 8 hours we gave meftal-p 2nd dose. But the fever is high. What shall we do in such condition?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent fever despite taking Meftal P which seems to be due to viral infection of body. Other possible chances are electrolyte imbalance of body, poor immunity of body and increased susceptibility of getting infected due to low immunity.

Visit general practitioner once and get it examined and start treatment after thorough examination. You should get blood tests done and start treatment after proper prescription.
- You should take proper course of antiviral medication such Acyclovir.
- Drinking plenty of fluids to rehydrate body and taking rest will be helpful.
- You should take paracetamol every 6 hourly.
- You should do tepid sponging if fever increases.
