Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurrent Cough And Choking Sensation?
I suddenly have a cough that comes and goes but when it comes it s like I m choking on something, but I m not. Usually when I start to eat something, I start coughing, even though I am not choking. It feels like there s something blocking my airway and I can t get it out, but I cough and cough and it clears my throat up.
It looks you either have a chronic allergic reaction or upper respiratory tract recurrent inflammation, which gets aggregated when you are taking solid foods.
You can try an anti-allergic medication like Cetirizine once daily for a week if it will not help you visit your pulmonologist or simply a general physician for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray , Dentist
