What Causes Recurrent Bleeding At The Incision Site After Having A C-section?
Hi! I had a c section done may 31. 10 days later I woke up to dried blood around my incision. I called my dr to go see him. He took me that morning and said was probably a lil blood in between fat layer (I had disovable stitches and then had the glue on top) and sent me home. About five hours later I look down and see my pants soaked in blood. Went to the emergency room. Doctor there said same thing and did not want to touch another surgeons work put a pressure bandage on and released me. That was friday. Monday went back to my dr who said probably hematoma that bled out a hole in the glue in my incision but old blood cause it was dark and keep a bandage on for it to reabsorb in my body or spill out on its own. It s been bleeding through 2 inch dressings every 24 hours for the past 7 days....I followed up with my dr who was surprised to hear it s still bleeding ...what can this be it still looks like old blood ...when should I be concerned ..do I keep wearing this pressure bandage and hope one day it stops bleeding? The do not want to open me back up....other than the bleeding I feel fine ,no fever, no signs of infection. ...I just want to know what s wrong with me

What Causes Recurrent Bleeding At The Incision Site After Having A C-section?
Hello, It is not normal for the surgical site to bleed for so long. A pressure the bandage should stop the bleeding after a few hours. However, if the site is still bleeding, you need to get a complete blood count (CBC) along with prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time to look for other causes of prolonged bleeding. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
