What Causes Rash On Buttocks Area After Application Of Diltiazem?

I ve been using diltiazem 2% ointment on my anus area to heal a fissure. The first couple of months with the medicine was fine, but since I ve gotten a refill I ve developed a rash on the inside of my butt crack. My fissure situation is doing great, but this rash has surfaced. I don t know what to do. Please help

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

This could be a fungal infection that has started inside the folds.
Sweat/moisture, humidity and occlusion being factors that would have contributed to the initiation of fungal infection in the body folds.
I would suggest you to try an OTC antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily for a few days.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
