What Causes Rapid Heart Rate?

Good Morning,

My mother currently has many health issues including COPD, coronary artery disease, torn rotator cuff, and degernative disc disease. She is also on 3 liters of oxygen. She is currently on 22 medications including inhalers. Her PCP has a tendency that every time she has an issue he will just give her another pill. We have been with this PCP for many years and he is a good doctor dont get me wrong. I was wondering if there is a doctor out there that we could recommend that could take a look at all the medications she is on and perhaps eliminate some of them. We truly beleive that the reason she does not feel good most days is due to all the medications she is on. An example would be a few weeks ago she started having a fast heart rate of 130-155 bmp just sitting down and that would cause her to have a breathing issue. She saw her pulmonologist who says that her lungs are in great condition and nothing has changed for 2 years. He beleived it was her heart. We saw the PCP the next day and he said no it wasnt the heart it had to be the breathing. We did a heart monitor as well as a nuclear stress test. The heart monitor showed a distole disfunction and the doc just put her on another pill. We asked if we should consult a cardiologist and he said no. It just feels like he just keeps throwing pills to keep her "happy" but not getting to the root of the problems anymore. Dont get me wrong I understand that she has a lot of things wrong with her but before she could go out to the movies and even garden a little bit. She is only 60 years old and cant do anything anymore. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for your time.

Hello,

High pulse rate with breathing issues are most likely because of cardiac or lung issue. It’s recommended for you to consult a cardiologist for proper physical and diagnostic evaluation and treatment accordingly.
