What Causes Radiating Pain In The Neck And Head?

I have a history of cervical nerve and neck pain, and for the last few days I felt a nerve pain radiating up the left side of my neck and head. About an hour ago, I noticed a strange taste in my mouth and then tried to sip a drink and noticed muscle weakness on the left side of my face, including my mouth. It almost feels as if I had novacain shot at the dentist s office. What could this be and is there anything someone in the ER could do to help?
