I have had migraines and tension headaches all my life. However in the last few weeks I have started getting a different type. Pain in neck radiating to whole head. Metallic taste in mouth. Pain is not there in the morning when I get up but within 3 - 5 hours it comes on - everyday. Pain is very bad. If I lie down the headache will be gone within 1 hour. Metallic taste remains. I recently had a root canal and a crown. Dentist has taken X-rays and says there is no problem and no infection. Have not had any recent head injuries or falls.

I have had three rear-ended car accidents over the past 40 years. Pain at the base of my skull going up the right side of my head and around the crown of my head has been severe for about two years. I have had all kinds of injections; with and without anethes. I was then advised to see a surgeon. August 2014 I had surgery; three vertebras in my neck replaced and two fused. I was told by the surgeon my pain was common and she would be able to completely resolve my pain. The pain is back with the severity it was before surgery. In questioning the surgeon she said NOW that it is caused by C1 vertebra and therefore too much a risk for surgery. Any suggestions or comments?

I have a bad pain in the back of my neck right under the skull. It hurts to touch it and the pain shoots up my head to my temple. Also, the same side of my face keeps twitching along with my eyelid. That eyelid feels heavy even when there is no twitching. Is this something I should seek medical attention for right away? Or does it sound muscular?

HELLO! I am recovering from a severe cold since about 12/22/24. During this time, I have had a very tender scalp accompanied by head pain as well. I have been having headaches at night when I go to bed. My left eye had been feeling a little weird. There was a little pain in this eye as well as weakness. I since have seen a walk-in clinic doctor as well as my personal doctor. It was concluded that I had a bacterial infection. I was put on antibiotics and sent home. My Pcp further thought that the head pain was caused by the head congestion. She suggested sudafed. However, my scalp is still very tender and the headaches are still there, however, not as severe. What could be causing these symptoms and should I be concerned about stroke?

Yesterday I started my period. White sitting I started having discomfort in my left side (mid-abdomen, toward the front) which gradually became an intense pain. I went home to lie down, intent to visit the ER if the pain got any worse or didn't stop within an hour (it had been about 30 minutes total). When I lay down, the pain dissipated and hasn't returned. However, today I'm having some sharp, stabbing pains in my urethra, enough to wake me. There isn't any burning when I pee, just a stabbing/stinging sensation every so often. I've considered everything from kidney stones to muscle spasms.

I'm 30 yrs old, never pregnant, 260lbs @ 5'5" tall. I suffer from panic attacks and anxiety disorder due to a previous misdiagnosis of intracranial hypertension and a bad reaction to Topamax. Neurologist now thinks I possible occipital neuralgia coupled with migraines and TMJ. I had taken cyclobenzaprine the night prior to the intense side pain under doctor's orders to treat the TMJ.

I tested positive and I am worried that I will not be able to work at my practicum site. I have had an active respiratory infection, but the symptoms do not seem to be typical of TB from what I have read: (a) runny nose; (b) sneezing; (c) fatigue; (d) headache and other cold like symptoms. I recently had a stent at the hospital for occipital neuralgia and received 1,000 mg of IV steroids and I am worried that my immune system is compromised. I also have a spinal cord injury and CRPS II, so my body is taxed by pain and pharmacotherapies. Should I be worried?
