What Causes Radiating Pain From Nose Bridge To Eye With Blurred Vision?
the nerve alongside the right side of the bridge of my nose hurts. when I tap it with my finger it sends pain up my right eye into my head. My vision on that side blurs when this nerve gets sore or swollen. Is this a serious problem and can it be controlled by medication? My eye doctor says my vision is good, however I did not have the swollen nerve on my last vision checkup.
Radiating pain from the nose bridge to eye is commonly due to Ethmoid sinusitis. Ethmoid sinusitis causes pain & swelling, it may cause loss of smell if left untreated. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, get X-ray PNS done to confirm pathology so that treatment can be started.
In the meantime, take saline nasal spray for relieve. Antihistamines and saline nasal sprays are also effective. Otrivin nasal drops may help to ease discomfort. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS to ease discomfort. Blurry vision should get back to normal once you have been treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
