What Causes Purple Sore Bruise On The Buttock?

Hi. I noticed a purple/re bruise like mark on my butt cheek several months ago. It is still there. Sore to the touch. The spot is slightly indented. I got another bruise in a similar area when moving furniture a month ago. The second spot has healed. I am starting to think the first mark is something else and more serious. Or maybe it is part of getting older (53 years old). Ideas? Thanks for your help.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have purple sore bruise on the buttock . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like trauma , anticoagulant medications , mongolian spot , allergic reaction , side effects of medicine or fungal infection . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to reduce redness and swelling , keep this area clean and dry , take anti histamine like benadryl and apply over the counter antifungal cream . Wear loose cloths and clean the area with warm water or betadine . Do not scratch or touch it again and again .Consult dermatologist if condition doesn't get well . Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial like clindamycin , cortiosteroid ointment and anti allergic like immunosuppressants .
