What Causes Proteins In Urine?

Hi, my husband was referred to a Urologist , after an insurance physical showed that he had proteins in his urine. He then did a 24 hour urine test, which again showed proteins in his urine. My husband is an active person, and is maybe carrying 10lbs extra. He is also a Firemen. He feels fine, no pain. We are now going to go to a Kidney specialist. We live in Aspen Co, we will have to go 150 miles to go to a specialist. So what could be the problem? And were do I go to get the ratings for a kidney specialist ?

Nephrologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
Protein leakage in urine requires quantification.
Kindly mention the exact value to define it as nephrotic proteinuria.
Check S. creatinine, BP and do sonography.
It is necessary to consult nephrologist if protein leakage is there.
You can get back to me also with reports.
I think this would be helpful to you.
Best wishes. TC.
