What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Spotting And Abdominal Cramping After Having Mirena?
hi, I had the mirena inserted about a month ago and i am still spotting and getting cramps, and i am starting to get worried. I had my period as normal and i thought that the bleeding would stop but it hasnt. Could this be that i have an infection or that it preforated my uterus?? Also i have a new partner since getting the iud and was curious if it could be an std?
Hello, welcome to HCM. I understand your concern .Please dont worry. Nothing has happened. You are absolutely fine. These mirena consist of progesterone hormone which will be released directly into the uterus in very low doses. So the hormone level rise and dip which is needed for the periods is disturbed. Till the body get adjust to this there will be slight symptoms which otherwise occurs before and after periods. Bleeding reduces and it may prolong. your other concerns like perforation, you would had severe pain in abdomen which you cannot tolerate and you would be in shock. Definetely you are not getting symptoms of std. Dont worry. It will take time to settle down. Take care.
