What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding While On Birth Control Pills?
I have been menstrating for 10 days now while on birth control (the pill) ... It started 10 days early, started light and got increasingly heavy, painful and full of clots ... My menstration usually only lasts 5 days so I ve stopped taking the pill in hopes it would ease up but it got worse
Hello dear Understand your concern Prolonged bleeding is not due to the birth control pill. You have to consult the gynecologist for prolonged menstrual bleeding for 10 days to find the causes of it. Following are the causes: Hormonal imbalance lead to dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Endometrial dysplasia/cancer, fibroid, Ovarian cyst Cervical dysplasia Vaginal and cervical polyp. Go for following investigations: vaginal examinations, PAP smear, endometrial biopsy and USG scan for endometrial thickness. High dose of progesterone used to stop the bleeding. And tranexaemic acid is used to reduce the amount of bleeding. Other causes require specific treatment. Take healthy diet with iron supplements. Hope this may help you
