What Causes Prolonged Fever, Chills And Decreased Appetite?
Hello, my 19 year old son has had a fever of 101 to 102 degrees for five days now. Along with the fever, he has chills, body aches, decreased appetite and a headache. I believe this is a virus that his body will fight, but am a bit concerned due to the number of days he has had this fever. What would cause a fever to last for so many days, and should I be concerned that it has lasted so long?

As five days passed with high fever and still not under control requires evaluation of your case.
Go for, complete blood checking,
Routine urine check up.
If require go for S.Widal for typhoid.
Consult your doctor and get examined.
After all reports your doctor will get proper diagnosis and then he will go for treatment accordingly.
Meanwhile take plenty of water.
Take light diet.
Keep fever under control with paracetamol round the clock.
Ok and take care.
