What Causes Profuse Sweating In Upper Body And Head?

F, 59, obese, autoimmune disorder, chronic pain, lumbar disc disease, hysterectomy and scare tissue removal after 3 c-sections, gallbladder removal due to inflammation. I have sense recovered from doctor prescribed pain narcotics of over 10 years, no drug use for over 6 years now, but worry about my liver from all the drugs they had me on. 10mg - 480mg daily in an 8 year span of Oxycontin. I am now wondering why when laying down or sleeping do I break out in a sweat on my upper body and head only when I turn over onto my right side? It lasts for a short time then stops. Thank you!

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have profuse sweating . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like heart attack , diabetic hypoglycemia , endocarditis , generalized anxiety disorder , hyperthyroidism , medication side effects, such as betablockers and antidepressants and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma . The symptoms can also occur due to hormonal changes . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper examination and rule out more serious condition . Doctor may order complete blood profile , ECG , TMT , angiography and check vitals . Doctor may prescribe betablockers , aspirin , diurectics like frusamide and sedatives . Doctor may also refer you to endicrinologist if he/she find problem to be related with thyroid , hormonal changes or diabetes . For now keep yourself relax , drink plenty of water , try to loose your weight , take proper rest and drink plenty of water .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
