What Causes Pricking Sensation And Itching Under The Skin?

It feels like something is under my skin on my arms and the only thing that helps is scratching. It’s like shocks waves of pins and needles. I’ve seen a dermatologist but she can’t identify what it is. It’s under my skin, not on it. Also it affects me more at night so I can’t sleep.

Hello,

I would recommend you to go for certain tests to find out the cause of these pins and needles sensation.

Go for complete blood count, liver and kidney function, thyroid function tests and fasting blood sugar levels.

Meanwhile, take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime for a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
