What Causes Plastic Taste In The Tongue?

my tongue has had that "plastic" taste and feel, like when you drink from a cheap plastic water bottle, for a couple weeks. At first I thought it was the calcium I just started taking, but now I am not so sure, still have it and did not take the calcium today.

Hello Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of plastic taste in the tongue which seems to be due to dysgeusia i.e altered taste sensations of tongue. It could be due to poor oral hygiene, stress and fungal infections on the tongue.

I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper evaluation and to rule out other condition. Doctor may prescribe antifungal medicines like miconazole and nystatin. Maintain proper oral hygiene and such on sugar free candies and drink plenty of fluids. You should get few tests done as well such as blood sugar levels and thyroid hormone levels.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
