What Causes Pins And Needles Behind The Neck Upon Movement?

I am a yoga teacher & a court reporter. I m having a sensation of a muscle strand or nerve is out of place rubbing against something, like a feeling of moving, rubbing cartilage just below the back of the neck about 4 inches, close to the spine on the left, with shoulder, neck movement & bending with intermittent feeling of deep pins & needles in that spot. If I am still or move with a stiff neck (like a robot), there is no sensation. I am in no pain.
