What Causes Petechiae On Left Upper And Inner Arm?
My 28yr old bedridden son has a congenital heart defect has bilateral BT shunts his SATs stay in the 80-85 at all times but always has. He has suddenly petichiae on left upper arm inner arm but no fever or other symptoms at all?? What could be the reason in that one spot with no symptoms?
Hello, i would like to know if the patient has been put on blood thinners like warfarin etc., to maintain the patency of the shunts. If so, these petechiae might be a manifestation of the drug overdose, and u may need to consult ur cardiologist for dose adjustment (as per INR). If not on blood thinners, then i would adv you to get a platelet count, bleeding time and clotting time, since there are no constitutional symptoms, it doesnot appear as infective manifestation. Since the lesions are localised, there is no need to panic, further course of action will depend on the etiology. Thanks Take care
