What Causes Persistent Swelling And Pain In The Hand?

I have excessive hand welling and pain even after taking anti-inflammitories for a period of time. Have seen Rheumatologist, Hand Surgeon, and my general pracition. What can be causing this and what do I need to do to get this taken care of. I have a history of HSP as a child and could this have anything to do with this? I am 41 years old and also had a massive heart attack at 35.

Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you need to have a detailed autoimmune profile done including RA factor as well as ANA.

And if anti-inflammatory drugs are not working disease-modifying drugs like methotrexate may be needed. Radiological Scans should also be done for these disorders.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
