What Causes Persistent Sore Throat With Swelling In Tonsils And Lymph Nodes?

My daughter has been sick for over 15 days she has a fever sever sore throat, swollen tonsils with exudate, swollen lymph nodes and a slight cough. She also has green thick snot that is hard for her to get out. On 5/12 said that he will still treat this empirically as strep throat. Amoxicillin twice daily for ten days . She finished her antibiotic and still has all the same symptoms what could she have? Patient is 5 yrs. old and weight is 52lbs name is Kristy Irwin

Thank for use the website about your question I think that your daughter needs some tests like a bacterial culture because you already treated her with amoxicillin and she is keeping the same symptoms,probably she have another kind of bacteria or amoxicillin resistance one, always a bacterial culture is a better option because no only identified the right germs but also the best antibiotic to use.
