What Causes Persistent Pain In Knee After Knee Injury?

Hi,I fell on my knee cap two days ago onto my hardwood floors. It was very painful but no swelling or bruising. Its been a few days andbit is very painful when that area(directly below knee cap) is touched lightly or if I am sitting on my knees. I tried Ibuprofen. Any other suggestion. Thanks, Angela

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Angela.

You will need an xray to first rule out any skeletal injuries, and then an MRI of the knee to check for any ligament injury which is very common with such falls. I only suggest this because the pain should have subsided by now and as it hasnt we will have to look into it in a more elaborate manner.

Best wishes.
