What Causes Persistent Headaches And Dizziness In A Teenager?
My daughter is 17 and in the last week she has not been feeling well. She barely gets sick. She has had a headache everyday and feeling dizzy at times and exhausted when is not normal for her. She always has lots of energy. . She works out 5 days a week and watches what she eats. She gets 8 hours of sleep with no problem. What are your thoughts?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Dizziness symptom what your daughter is having could be caused due to 'iron deficiency anaemia'. Kindly get her blood checked for complete blood count test along with peripheral smear examination done. If it indicates iron deficiency, she need to take iron supplements and iron rich foods in the diet. She would also need protein supplements along with it. Headache could have been caused due to refractory errors of your eyes. Kindly get your eye checked by consulting Ophthalmologist. Adequate correction when given for refractory errors will help to overcome the problems of headache. Hope the information provided would be helpful. Al the best. Regards, Dr. Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
