What Causes Persistent Fever, Body Ache, Lower Back Pain And Runny Nose?

My white cell count is normal but I have a frequent fever, body aches, runny nose. I used to think is was because of ankylosing spondilitis but not sure now. I have a lot of low back pain. I take ibuprofen for the AS pain. I just had an angiogram yesterday and nothing found worth stenting or ballooning my cholestoral was 139. I am just looking for some possible causes that haven t been thought of yet that i could be tested for.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent fever, body ache, lower back pain and runny nose which seems to be due to viral infection of body due to compromised immunity of your body and susceptibility of getting infected. Sometimes initially the infection is viral but with times secondary bacterial infection occur , which cause further complication. Need not to worry. You should take proper rest and muscle relaxants. For now take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion. You should take proper rest. Do tepid sponging to lower down fever. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay. Doctor may prescribe anti viral( acyclovir), anti bacterial penicillin, along with anti inflammatory medications. Doctor may order throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
