What Causes Persistent, Dry Cough, Phlegm With Blood And Stomach Pain?

Hi, My 4 year old daughter has had a persistent, dry cough for about 4 months. She has been sick and is now bringing up phlegm with blood in it. Her stomach is causing her a lot of pain too. Last week she was also sick for one morning but then was totally fine after a sleep. We have recently moved , temporarily, to a very industrial city which suffers from smog, could it be asthma?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As your surrounding is full of smog, so allergy or asthma may be the cause for that. Try to move from that place or use mask while going outside. You can give syrup Dextrometharphan and Mefenamic acid for cough and abdominal pain. Kindly consult with pediatrician for detailed examination. You may require chest X-ray, CBC, pulmonary function test after consultation.

Take care.
