What Causes Persistent Cough And Fever In A Toddler Post Recovery From Jaundice?
My child is of 3 years old. From psst 4 weeks he is having cough and some times slight fever. He was treated for jaundice 3 weeks ago. As my son is not over coming his cough we went to a super specialist. He suggested to take X-ray. Then he said there is slight wet on the right lung. He gave medicine of budesonide (budecort) 100mcg for every 8 hours and levokin 50 mcg for every 4 hours. Also asthalin syrup and omnacartil and clarithromycin dry syrup. Now the problem is after starting using medicines he suffering from continuous fever of 103-104. Is this any side effect. Pls reply as soon as possible.
From the information you have provided I am of the opinion that your son may be suffering from pneumonia. Although a prescription is good as he has suffered from jaundice in recent past and has not yet recovered fully, steroids may be depressing his immunity much. I advise you for care under hospitalisation at least for a few days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
