What Causes Palpitations In Heart?

i had palpitations on my heart. i went to the ER. i followed up with my doctor couple days later. he refered me to a cardiologist. i called the cardiologist but no open appont. til the end of feb. but my track season starts in 1 week. i feel great no sudden palpitations can i ask my doctor to clear me from my physical so i can participate?
