What Causes Painless Throbbing On Top Of The Head?

I am a 47 year old male. I am not over weight, I do not consume alcohol nor do I use drugs. I used to smoke cigarettes but have been smoke free for almost 4 years. I had a heart attack at 36, (2 stents) and a bi pass at 39. I had a light heart attack again last year (Angioplasty). My blood pressure usually runs around 127/78. My question is... Do you know what could cause me to have a painless throbbing in the top of my head? It doesn t hurt at all. It s just very annoying. It s like I can feel my heart beating in the top of my head. I do not have any other symptoms. It just started last night. I spoke with my primary care physician as well as my cardiologist today, and neither seemed worried about it. It s just extremely bothersome.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, the throbbing can be because of nitrates you must be taking for your heart attack.

Consult your cardiologist and discuss with him regarding decreasing the dose of nitrates if possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
