What Causes Painful Urination After A Triple Bypass Heart Surgery?
my husband had triple bypass heart surgery 6 days ago. He is home now and today he started having painful urination. He is on Atorvastatin, which lists that as a possible side effect, and he had a catheter in the hospital. Do you think he may have a UTI? I have some Cipro, but am afraid it may react with his other meds. Do you think we should go to the ER or wait it out?
The symptoms your husband is experiencing is possibly Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), especially with the recent history of catheterization. Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider to undergo urine analysis and culture, and to start antibiotics. Please be advised not to start antibiotics without confirming the diagnosis first. Also starting ciprofloxacin without seeing a doctor first is not ideal, as antibiotics can interact with other medications he is on.
